Active Norfolk is committed to abiding by the standards of the UK Code for Sport Governance published by Sport England.
The principles of the Code and our supporting documents to demonstrate how we uphold the Code are provided below:
Section 1 - Structure
"Organisations shall have a clear and appropriate governance structure, led by a Board which is collectively responsible for the long-term success of the organisation and exclusively vested with the power to lead it. The Board shall be properly constituted, and shall operate effectively."
Section 2 - People
"Organisations shall recruit and engage people with appropriate diversity, independence, skills, experience and knowledge to take effective decisions that further the organisation's goals."
Section 3 - Communication
"Organisations shall be transparent and accountable, engaging effectively with stakeholders and nurturing internal democracy."
Section 4 - Standards and Conduct
"Organisations shall uphold high standards of integrity, and engage in regular and effective evaluation to drive continuous improvement."
The Active Norfolk Board will undergo evaluation in 2018. The evaluation report will be provided on this site shortly thereafter.
Section 5 - Policies and Processes
As a person working for the Council you may be the first to realise that there could be something seriously wrong within the Council. However, you may feel that speaking up would be disloyal to your colleagues or to the Council. You may also fear harassment or victimisation. In these circumstances it may be easier to ignore the concern rather than report what may just be a suspicion of malpractice.
The purpose of this Policy and the accompanying Whistleblowing Procedure is to make it clear that you can raise your concerns in confidence without fear of victimisation, subsequent discrimination or disadvantage. The Council encourages you to raise serious concerns in the first instance within the Council rather than overlooking a problem or 'blowing the whistle' outside, and we would rather that you raised the matter when it is just a concern rather than waiting for proof.
