Active Norfolk is the Active Partnership for Norfolk.

We are one of 42 Active Partnerships across England, working with communities, organisations and decision-makers to create the conditions for people to be more physically active.

Funded through a combination of national investment, local partnerships and commissioned programmes, our role is to bring people together, influence change and help remove the barriers that prevent people from leading active lives.

For more than 20 years, Active Norfolk has worked to help more people enjoy the benefits of physical activity. Our upcoming 2026 strategy will show the learnings we've taken in this time, and how we plan to achieve our goal of making movement part of everyday life, for everybody.

A Norfolk where inequalities are no longer a barrier to an active life. Our vision We combat inequalities and remove barriers to physical activity, making movement part of everyday life for everyone. Our mission Our Role Advocate
Championing the benefits of movement.
We bring people together to create change through three key approaches:
Enable
Helping communities create opportunities to be active.
Connect
Building partnerships and aligning investment.
What we do For more than 20 years, Active Norfolk has worked alongside communities, partners and organisations to help more people enjoy the benefits of physical activity. In this time, we've made vital connections and learned so much about the best way to help communities.

Today, our focus is clear: tackling inequalities and removing barriers that prevent people from being active.

We believe movement has the power to improve physical and mental health, strengthen communities and create healthier futures. By working together, we can create a Norfolk where everyone has the opportunity to move more and live well.

So how will we achieve it?

We take a partnership approach to our work. We work with different groups across the county ranging from statutory health bodies, local government, health and well-being groups, and also the education sector.

Together, we are working to create more activity opportunities, and to build awareness and understanding of how physical activity and sport can be used to support the wellbeing of residents and communities,

Our primary role from Sport England encompasses the following core areas of work:

  • Understanding the needs and issues of the population of Norfolk
  • Growing our partnerships across all three sectors to maximise reach and impact
  • Assisting Sport England to successfully land local investment
  • Supporting local government to achieve key objectives through increasing physical activity levels
