Get Out Get Active

Get Out, Get Active (GOGA)

Get Out Get Active (GOGA) is a national programme led by Activity Alliance that supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together.

In Norfolk, Active Norfolk is leading local delivery, working with communities, leisure providers and partners to create inclusive opportunities that are shaped by the people who use them.

Rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all programme, GOGA focuses on listening to local people, understanding barriers to participation and co-designing activities that are welcoming, accessible and sustainable. Through this approach, we are helping more people to become active, build confidence, improve wellbeing and feel connected to their communities.
How our user-led activity sessions have benefitted people in Norfolk so far. Get Out Get Active Case Study

In just six months, Get Out Get Active (GOGA) is already changing the way inclusive physical activity is delivered across Norfolk. At the heart of Norfolk’s GOGA delivery is a simple but transformative principle: listen first.

This approach builds on previous work around user voice, ensuring disabled people are not simply invited to attend sessions, but actively shape them. From choosing activities, to deciding timings and venues, participants are involved from day one. The result is activity that fits real lives, rather than assumptions.

In the first six months of delivery in Norfolk:
Impact highlights of Get Out, Get Active (GOGA) 21 sessions were designed and delivered between August and January. 266 participants have taken part in GOGA activities across the county. Increased interaction between service users has been noted, showing the benefits beyond physical activity.

Looking ahead: Our future plans for GOGA in Norfolk

We are continuing to work with disabled people, community organisations and activity providers to create opportunities that are inclusive by design.

By building workforce confidence, embedding co-production and strengthening local partnerships, we aim to ensure more people across Norfolk can access enjoyable physical activity opportunities close to home.

As part of our wider commitment to tackling inequalities, GOGA will continue to help shape how we create welcoming, accessible and sustainable opportunities for movement across the county, ensuring that everyone has the chance to be active, regardless of background, ability or circumstance.
