About 'Jump Start' Sports Mentor
The project will be twofold. There will be a number of targeted sessions for young people to attend where they are able and then a countywide service to support young people to make positive choices about joining specific sports clubs or other physically active community group.
The key to the success for the project will be employing sports mentors who have the ability to engage with young people, many who might be inactive; enthuse and influence them so that they decide to take part in sports activities and through the mentoring understand their worth and grow their aspirations. We need people who understand the impact of adverse childhood experiences and are keen to develop their own skills and knowledge but also have a positive attitude to the potential of young people to grow and change into amazing adults through difficult times in their lives.
This role will be 10 hours a week at £9.00/hr, but will consider applications from people looking for casual hours. Please see Job Description for further details.
To apply, please fill in the application form and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership, Castle Road, Chelston Business Park, Wellington, TA21 9JQ.
Appointments of Sports Mentors are ongoing as funding becomes available, although volunteer roles are available with training.
