Active Norfolk Foundation

Active Norfolk
Foundation
We are the Active Norfolk Foundation, an independent charity established in 2025 to help get people to be more active in the county of Norfolk.

Who are the Active Norfolk Foundation?

Did you know that for those people in Norfolk that are active or fairly active, physical activity generates an estimated £1.42bn in wellbeing value to the county as well as £166m in direct benefits to the system (e.g. Healthcare)?

We believe strongly that by improving and sustaining the uptake of physical activity in those populations that need it most, we can provide huge benefits to the county of Norfolk.

Our vision

The Active Norfolk Foundation's vision is to inspire everyone in the county of Norfolk to be physically active in whatever way works for them in their daily lives giving them the confidence that physical activity is a journey that starts with one step.

We will aim to secure funding and distribute grants in order to advocate and deliver projects focusing on inequalities.

Foundation's
Values

  • People: Inclusive to all
  • Innovation: Developing and delivering new, inventive concepts
  • Collaboration: Forge robust and supportive alliances with all stakeholders
  • Passion: Driven and devoted to realising our mission
  • Transparent: Integrity by being reliable, forthright and sincere in our endeavours
  • Our mission: How we will operate

We’re keen to bring new sources of funding into Norfolk to enable work on a range of community and system projects that will help us meet our aims but also those of our partners. Funding secured is likely to be commissioned to other community providers and organisations who share our aims and ambitions.

We expect to work closely with the separate Active Norfolk organisation on this basis, but also a variety of local partners from the voluntary, health and local government sectors. We’re also keen to establish new funding connections not only through bids, but also with commercial organisations that have a mutual interest in benefitting their local communities or getting people to be more active.

The Foundation has a board of seven Trustees. Five of these are independent, with the addition of two from Active Norfolk itself.
