Safeguarding Children & Young & Adult Policies
Policy Statement
Active Norfolk are committed to:
- Ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and leads on sharing best practice.
- Promoting safeguarding best practice across sport and physical activity settings in Norfolk in collaboration with our partners. We will seek to ensure that everyone involved in our direct and commissioned activities and programmes regardless of age, ability or disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or socio‑economic background feels safe, supported, and able to enjoy sport and physical activity.
- Ensuring children, young people and adults have a positive and enjoyable experience of sport and physical activity with Active Norfolk or our partner organisations.
- Working with children, young people and adults to ensure they are protected from abuse whilst participating in activities provided by Active Norfolk or our partners.
If Active Norfolk does not adhere to the standards set forth in this policy, please direct your concerns to [email protected]. All complaints will be thoroughly investigated, and responded to as quickly as possible. For further details please visit the Norfolk County Council’s Customer Service charter.
Policy Principles
Active Norfolk believes that:
- The welfare and safety of children, young people and adults is of primary concern.
- All children, young people and adults have a right to be safe and to be treated with dignity and respect.
- It is the responsibility of Children’s Services, Adults Services or the Police to determine whether abuse has taken place, but it is everyone’s responsibility to put safeguarding measures in place, and to report any concerns.
- All incidents of suspected poor practice and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
- Confidentiality should be upheld in line with data protection legislation but should not be a barrier to promoting the welfare and protecting the safety of children, young people and adults.
