Sport England launch new, simplified funding application process for sports clubs and organisations

The new ‘Movement Fund’, announced at the end of April simplifies funding applications and will help those with the greatest need secure investment to support people to live active, healthy, lives.

What is the Movement fund?

The new Movement fund, which is worth £160 million over the next four years, has replaced Sport England’s existing Small Grants Programme and Active Together fund. This new fund will offer crowdfunding pledges, grants and resources to provide physical activity opportunities, with the goal of tackling long-lasting inequalities.

Launched alongside this was the ‘Movement Hub‘. This showcases the best tools and resources to help everyone in sport and physical activity unite the movement.

What is the Movement fund for?

As the latest Active Lives figures show, there’s still a significant activity gap between people. People are less likely to be active based on where they live, how affluent they are, their sex, ethnic background or whether they have a disability or long-term health condition.

The Movement Fund aims to help close these gaps. It intends to do this whilst making the application process simpler for those seeking funding, so they have more time to focus on the delivery of their applications.

“We know that choosing the best fund to apply for can be confusing, which is why we’ve worked hard to create a single application form that allows us to do the hard work and best assess [applicants’] suitability.”

Tim Hollingsworth, Sport England CEO

Who can apply for the funding?

Sport England’s new Movement Fund is aimed at community groups, local clubs and grassroots organisations that are at the heart of delivering physical activity opportunities. Is it designed to help those who deliver opportunities which boost people’s health and wellbeing.

Clubs and organisations can apply for grants between £300 and £15,000. If your project aligns with our priorities, Sport can fund a broad range of costs and items.
