Volunteering

Share your time, share your skills, share your energy

On the page below you will find a number of great opportunities to volunteer in the local area and in other communities in Norfolk with an active benefit too as well as a list of upcoming events looking for volunteers.

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do and it's a great way to get out and meet new people as well as giving your time to helping those who need it.

Select the volunteering that's right for you:

- Active Volunteering - Get active and help out in a community project that's good for your health. Use the search bar below to find opportunities.

- Event Volunteering - See below for listings of great upcoming events which are looking for volunteers you can support.

Volunteering Evenings:

Active Norfolk, in partnership with UEA Sportspark and Waitrose Norwich, are keen to encourage volunteering in sport and we help to promote voluntary opportunities across Norfolk. We run four events throughout the year to acknowledge, reward and upskill our volunteers.

Many organisations are county-wide, so if you don't find any opportunities in your postcode area, try a wider search and look for the opportunities that are at multiple sites across Norfolk or countywide.

Physical Activity Project Officer

I joined Active Norfolk in Autumn 2017 as a Physical Activity Project Officer in the Health Team with a focus on combatting inactivity and promoting health.

Coming from a 13 year background of Social Care I am keen to support, explore & develop the ideas on how sport & physical activity can be harnessed to bring about social change for communities and on a population level.

I manage the Active Volunteering page and am happy to discuss ideas with anyone looking to increase their physical activity levels through volunteering; Or any organisations looking for volunteers to help with a physically demanding role.

I also directly support the district of Great Yarmouth Borough Council as the East Locality worker, engaging with district officers and other key stakeholders within the Borough.

As well as heading up the liaison between Active Norfolk and the Social Prescribers across Norfolk.

While completing his Undergraduate degree in Northampton, I formed, coached & managed the Town's Men's Lacrosse team in 2002 which continues to run in the National league today.

In my spare time I participates in regular competitive runs throughout the year, while waiting to hear if I have a place in the upcoming London Marathon, as well as being a keen kayaker in all weather and in my downtime an excellent poker player.
