Special Olympics Norfolk supports athletes with intellectual disabilities to achieve their best through year-round sports and events.
By combining SOGB’s national framework with our local networks, we’ve created a powerful model for community-based inclusion in sport - one that supports not only physical activity, but also leadership, wellbeing and social connection for people who are often underrepresented in traditional sports settings.
This partnership has seen increased participation from athletes and volunteers, improved opportunities with additional sports and events being offered, and overall efficiency improvements from key processes being implemented.
It's hard to pick just three highlights, as so much has happened over the past year! Our partnership with SOGB continues to flourish, and athletes from Norfolk have taken part in the National Summer Games this year, bringing home a handful of medals. There are now 8 regular clubs operating within Special Olympics Norfolk; a number we hope to grow over the next period.
