Sport England's Volunteering Insight report provides a systematic review of the academic research over the last 10 years and also offers new insight into a number of areas through structured interviews with a range of volunteers.

This survey also asked members of public their views of coaches and coaching in general.

Sports Coach UK conducted research with adults taking part, or contemplating taking part, in sport or physical activity. The aim of the research was to understand their perceptions of coaching and how coaching might help them to get and stay active.
