BRAND NEW: Our Impact Report for 2024-2025 is out now! See what we’ve been working on over the previous year.

Women in Norfolk needed for focus groups

Active Norfolk are establishing a series of new focus groups in Norfolk, in order to identify barriers that people face when accessing sports and physical activity across the county.

We are looking for local women in Norfolk to join a focus group which will ultimately aim to identify and address concerns around accessing sports and physical activity for women.

What are Focus Groups?

Focus Groups are small groups of people who gather to discuss a certain topic. In these groups, we ask participants affected or invested in the topic to share their experiences and ideas with us. These groups will be made up of volunteers.

We already have a disability and accessibility focus group set up, for which we always welcome new members to apply, and are now in the process of recruiting for a brand new women and girls group.

This new group will welcome women of all ages and backgrounds, in order to hear a diverse range of opinions and experiences. We hope that through these groups, we will be able to review our current work and identify new areas we could get involved in.

When and where are the groups held?

The short answer is: whatever best suits our volunteers!

When filling in the expression of interest form, we will ask the days and times that would best suit you, as well as whether an in-person or online meeting would work best, or even a mixture of both. We will aim for a couple of group meetings a year, and potentially email out some communications between these for those who are willing to receive it.

When we determine the times of the focus groups going forward, we will take into account what time and location suits the majority of people. We appreciate not everyone will be able to attend every meeting, which is why we offer a flexible option to get involved.

What sort of topics will be discussed?

In our Women and Girls Focus Group, we want to hear about experiences with sports and physical activity from women in the county. We are keen to hear a diverse range of experiences; in particular focusing on any barriers or inequalities within physical activity you may have experienced.

We would also like to get real, honest opinions on our work so far, as well as your take on how we could improve.

All opinions and experiences are welcome; though please note, we cannot provide any funding to clubs or groups directly through these focus groups. For more information on available funding, visit our funding page.
