With a background in community sports development and Further Education, I joined Active Norfolk in the summer of 2006 as Sports Development Officer. Now as Director and one of the longest serving team members at Active Norfolk, I have the privilege of leading a team of exceptional and committed professionals.
Norfolk born and bred, I have lived at various points in my life in four of the seven Local Authority areas, so I have a good understanding of what makes Norfolk so special, and the significant role that sport and physical activity plays in that. I believe sincerely that improving levels of participation in sport and physical activity contributes positively to community cohesion, educational attainment, physical and mental health and well-being as well as adding real value to the local economy.
Outside of work I have a young family and am a fan of most sports. Having hung up my rugby boots I now spend quite a bit of time riding a road bike and have entered my first triathlon this year.

My role was created as part of Sport England's extended workforce programme which aims to collaborate and innovate with other County Sports Partnerships in England to share learning and stimulate new ways of working. I joined Active Norfolk in January 2019 following a previous role as Programme Director in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and a career as an officer in the RAF Regiment.
My passion is to work with individuals and teams to stimulate new ideas and develop new processes. I have a BSc(Hons) in Marine Chemistry, Masters in Business Administration and I'm a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. In my free time I keep busy mountain biking with my 2 teenage sons, compete in triathlons, and fly a paramotor.

Development & Relationship Manager – Health (on maternity leave from January 2020)
I joined Active Norfolk in October 2006 after completing a degree in Sport & Leisure Management at Sheffield Hallam University. I have had a number of roles and worked on a variety of prgrammes within the Active Norfolk team, including Extended Schools, Get Into and Fit4Work. I started working on the physical activity and health agenda in February 2013, and as of January 2015 moved into my role as Health Development Manager.
In my current role I am responsible for developing and maintaining the relationships with health and social care system; strategically leading on the physical activity agenda in relation to health; identifying funding streams; and ensuring that provision is targeted to reduce health inequalities.
I also lead on the Localities work within Great Yarmouth, engaging with district officers and other key stakeholders within the Borough to support a reduction in physical activity levels and health and well-being improvement using a place-based approach.

Development & Relationship Manager - Children and Young People
Whilst studying Sports Development at University I undertook a 12 month placement with Active Norfolk. Having finished my degree I returned to Norfolk as a Rural Sports Development Officer delivering the Village Games before managing projects such as Sport Makers, Satellite Clubs and School Games.
I am now the strategic lead for Children and Young People within the organisation. My role is to develop relationships and partnerships with organisations that engage with young people to improve understanding and awareness of the importance of physical activity on young people's health and well-being; identify relevant and appropriate funding opportunities; and align resources to bring about programmes and initiatives on a needs-led basis.
I am also the Localities lead for West Norfolk and North Norfolk, which sees me working with key partners across a range of sectors in those areas to identify areas of greatest need and identify the ways in which physical activity and sport can be utilised to address local problems.

Development & Relationship Manager – Localities & Communities
I joined Active Norfolk in early 2018 from the Community Development team at Norwich City Council, where he was Sport Development Officer for several years. During that time, I gained extensive experience working with local, regional, and national partners on complex community engagement and health initiatives relating to sport and physical activity.
In my role as Development Manager, I am the primary Localities lead for Active Norfolk, which sees me working with district officers and key stakeholders to improve and increase the quality of sport and physical activity opportunities in key areas on a place-based approach that reflects local need.
I also oversee the Workforce, Workplace, and Events activities within Active Norfolk.
I am also a keen cyclist and runner, and seem to spend a great deal of time chasing after my spaniel, Coco!

Physical Activity Project Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in April 2013 after graduating from Brunel University in Sports Science. I joined the health team and am responsible for tackling physical inactivity in adults. I have since managed the Fun & Fit project which has been successful in engaging and supporting the physically inactive to become healthier.
My current work at Active Norfolk also sees me lead on the mental health agenda which requires me to work with local partners to improve mental health and suicide reduction through projects such as All To Play For. I also oversee the work across two long term health conditions in MSK and CVD by providing opportunities for people affected to become or remain physically active.
In addition to the inactivity work, I provide locality support in Breckland working with district officers and key stakeholders to improve and increase sport and physical activity opportunities across the area.
Outside of work I play for Norwich United FC and any spare time I have left you can find me in the gym!

Physical Activity Project Officer
I re-joined Active Norfolk in July 2015, I'm part of the the health team and am responsible for tackling physical inactivity in adults. My role involves developing the physical activity training programme for frontline staff.
I previously worked for Active Norfolk between 2010 and 2013, during this time I worked on the Village Games project.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, skiing and playing hockey.

Physical Activity Project Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in Autumn 2017 as a Physical Activity Project Officer in the Health Team with a focus on combatting inactivity and promoting health.
Coming from a 13 year background of Social Care I am keen to support, explore & develop the ideas on how sport & physical activity can be harnessed to bring about social change for communities and on a population level.
I manage the Active Volunteering page and am happy to discuss ideas with anyone looking to increase their physical activity levels through volunteering; Or any organisations looking for volunteers to help with a physically demanding role.
I also directly support the district of Great Yarmouth Borough Council as the East Locality worker, engaging with district officers and other key stakeholders within the Borough.
As well as heading up the liaison between Active Norfolk and the Social Prescribers across Norfolk.
While completing his Undergraduate degree in Northampton, I formed, coached & managed the Town's Men's Lacrosse team in 2002 which continues to run in the National league today.
In my spare time I participates in regular competitive runs throughout the year, while waiting to hear if I have a place in the upcoming London Marathon, as well as being a keen kayaker in all weather and in my downtime an excellent poker player.

Development & Relationship Manager (Health) - maternity cover; Active Ageing Project Officer
I have a background of working on various community based programmes across Norfolk, as well as studying Sport and Education Studies at the University of Northampton. The experience I gained lead me to my current post with Active Norfolk overseeing our older people work, which focuses on the over 65s and is designed to address barriers to participation within this age group, and increase opportunities for Norfolk's older population to have access to physical activity.
In my spare time I enjoy playing/watching multiple sports including squash, badminton and football, in particular following the hugely successful Chelsea FC. I also like to travel, when time and money allows.

Development & Relationship Manager (Health) - maternity cover
I joined Active Norfolk in a secondment role in January 2020. I have worked with Norfolk County Council Public Health for the past six years, most recently focusing on a new Behaviour Change service supporting system-wide integration to improve healthy lifestyles, and have partnered with Active Norfolk on a number of projects and initiatives. I am also a registered practitioner of Public Health with UKPHR.
I've previously worked in the education sector in Scotland, and as an outreach manager with the largest leisure social enterprise in the UK before moving to Norfolk in 2013. For the past two years I have been a sessional lecturer at Easton College in a Higher Education sports course, delivering a curriculum of Behaviour Change in Health. I'm also a Mental Health First Aid tutor and a governor at my son's school in Taverham.
I like to spend my spare time with my young family, going to the gym, playing football and watching Celtic play.

Children and Young People Project Officer - Education
I joined the Active Norfolk team in October 2016 having worked for many years in Norwich primary schools delivering and developing PE, and working for School Sports Partnerships as a project officer delivering events, Change4Life projects and developing leadership and volunteering opportunities.
My role is to lead on the delivery of the Norfolk School Games, which is a framework that aims to provide new sporting competition opportunities and experiences for all school children in our county. I also work to support Norfolk schools with maximising their PE & Sport Premium funding. Both areas are close to my heart and enable me to continue to encourage physical activity for young people to improve.

Children and Young People Development Manager – Community & Youth Services
After completing a Sport and Leisure Management degree at the University of Brighton, I gained employment with Active Norfolk in April 2010. Since then, I have worked on a variety of projects for the CSP as well as the Norfolk County Golf Partnership.
In my current role, I lead on two Sport England initiatives – Sportivate and Satellite Clubs. Both projects share the common goal of increasing the number of young people aged 11-25 participating in regular sport / physical activity.
In my spare time I participate in a range of sporting / fitness activities including golf, tennis, table tennis, running and attending the gym. I also enjoy watching a variety of sports and frequently attend major sporting events and concerts. I am a Norwich City season ticket holder and closely follow their fortunes both home and away.

Sports Development Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in 2011 working on a temporary basis, lending a hand on various projects. I moved into the Rural Sports Development Officer role working on the Village Games in the same year, before being appointed into my current Sports Development officer role in January 2015.
My current role is made up of two strands: as Lead Coaching Officer I work closely with key partners such as National Governing Bodies, Local Authorities, School Games Organisers, Coaching Providers, Clubs and Coaches to establish local structures to support the delivery of effective coach development. My National Governing Bodies liaison role sees me working closely with the Sports Development Manager to support National Governing Bodies in the delivery of their Whole Sport Plans in Norfolk.
Outside of work most of my spare time is taken up lending my hand to many sports, especially football and cricket.

Sports Development Officer
I've been working for Active Norfolk since 2008. Previously I worked on the Big Lottery and Space for Sports and Arts scheme for Norfolk County Council.
In my current I role I am responsible for all a number of sports development programmes including; all things disability sport, volunteering, a number of under represented groups programmes including our 'This Girl Can in Norfolk' campaign and our BME development work. I enjoy my role as I get to work with a wide range of organisations including Schools, Clubs, Businesses, Charities, National Governing Bodies and many more. No 2 days are ever the same in this job!
I am also the lead Safeguarding Officer for Active Norfolk.
Outside of work I play hockey for North Norfolk Ladies HC as well as badminton and tennis. Travel is my other love and always enjoy planning the next trip away!

Workplace Physical Activity Project Officer
My role at Active Norfolk is to lead on our workplace physical activity programme; supporting organisations in Norfolk to create more active, productive, healthier and happier working environments.
I joined Active Norfolk in 2009, I have previously worked on Sport Unlimited and Sportivate, two Children and Young People programmes, before moving to my current role in September 2014.
When I'm not at work, I enjoy being outside and walking in the countryside, playing badminton, trips to the cinema, reading and when the budget allows a bit of overseas travel!

I joined Active Norfolk in 2014 to continue my role as Event Manager for Active Norfolk and Norfolk County Council.
In recent years I have been responsible for the delivery of the Tour of Britain and Torch Relay in Norfolk.
I also deliver events management training and advise on event safety procedures.
In my spare time I read and paint. I love camping, going to other people's events and have recently started running.

Insight & Evaluation Officer
My role is to embed insight and evaluation across Active Norfolk's work. My aim is to help us as an organisation learn more about what works, or doesn't, by understanding and applying existing evidence, as well as generating new understanding from increasing data collection and analysis in Norfolk. I intend to use the combined insight gained from this to inform the design, delivery and development of ours, and partners services by providing information that is relevant and accessible to the sector.
In my free time I like to cycle, run, and generally spend time outdoors.

Insight & Business Support Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in April 2011. My current roles are providing PA service to the Director and managing the administrative, financial and clerical functions of Active Norfolk. I am also responsible for Active Norfolk Insight, which involves using a host of information sources to gain an accurate and deep understanding of Norfolk and its residents.
In my spare time, I cycle and walk my dogs, endlessly; I like a spot of gardening too!

Marketing and Communications Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in 2014 as Marketing Communications Officer, after relocating to the Norfolk area from the North East.
I got my MA in Communications and Media Studies from Newcastle University, and worked in the media buying sector in the North East for 8 years before moving to Norfolk.
My role is to manage the marketing and communications function for Active Norfolk, which includes development of marketing campaigns, PR, strategic communications, management of the website and social media accounts, and to act as media liaison.
In my spare time I enjoy running and spending time with my young family.

Assistant Marketing Communications Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in 2013. After obtaining my Degree in Hospitality Management at University of East Anglia I have then worked in various roles around Marketing.
My role at Active Norfolk is to support the Marketing Communications Officer with a variety of marketing activities to provide a comprehensive function for Active Norfolk.
My spare time consists of attending the gym regularly and I also love Salsa dancing.
Website and Communications Development Officer
I joined Active Norfolk in 2019 as website and communications development officer, working across the organisation's digital communications channels as well as supporting with design, events, PR, and general marketing.
I began my career in London working in the music business and magazine publishing. I moved into the not-for-profit sector after relocating to Norfolk with my young family ten years ago, with communications roles in the animal welfare and education sectors.
Despite moving to the flattest part of the country I love mountain walking, as well as camping, reading, and going to gigs.
