Resources to support inclusive activities at home

A suite of resources to help make home activities accessible for disabled people has been launched by Activity Alliance, which promotes inclusivity in physical activity and sport.

The resources are based around the STEP tool which helps make activities inclusive by adapting the Space, Task, Equipment, and People to meet the needs of everyone in the household.

The tool is already commonly used in PE and school sport settings, but works just as well at home to adapt activities using everyday objects so that disabled and non-disabled people can enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle together.

The resources include six new STEP graphics which can be downloaded for disabled people, organisations, and providers to share and use to apply the STEP tool to your sports and activities.

Disabled people and providers can find more information about the STEP tool, and tips for adapting activities, on the Activity Alliance website.

The website also has exercise advice, workouts, videos and activity guides to support disabled people to move more while at home.

You can share photos and videos of your inclusive home activities using @AllForActivity on Twitter and Activity Alliance on Facebook with the hashtag #StayInWorkOut.
