PE goes virtual to keep kids moving

Kids across the UK are staying active at home thanks to the power of the internet.

As many families get used to a new way of schooling, with children learning from home and their usual activities put on hold, the virtual world is offering lots of free, fun ways to keep kids moving.

Online fitness guru Joe Wicks is streaming free PE workouts at 9am every weekday on his Body Coach YouTube channel, with a half-hour routine to get the day off to a great start.

Young children can get active with their favourite cartoon characters, from Sonic the Hedgehog to Anna and Elsa, with hundreds of fun videos on the GoNoodle channel.

Meanwhile, Cosmic Kids Yoga helps keep things positive with a focus on mindfulness and relaxation.

Making dedicated time for physical activity will help kids to stay focused on their learning, as well as putting a smile on their faces and helping to beat stress and anxiety.

There are lots more ways you can build activity into your family's day, from helping out around the house to playing ball games in the garden and, if safe to do so, going for a walk or cycle in your local area - see our Active At Home page for more ideas and resources.
