£250,000 Boost for Disability Activities

Activity providers can apply for grants from a major new fund to help people with disabilities to become more active.

The £250,000 Toyota Parasport Fund will provide training and equipment grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 to improve the activities on offer for people with disabilities.

The scheme is being delivered by Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, Disability Sport Wales, and Scottish Disability Sport in partnership with the British Paralympic Association, with £100,000 a year being invested from National Lottery funding.

To apply, organisations must be registered on Parasport, powered by Toyota – an online hub which aims to empower people with disabilities to increase their activity levels.

Mike Diaper, Sport England Executive Director of Children, Young People and Tackling Inactivity, said: "We know that disabled people are twice as likely to be inactive and we are determined to close this gap and that's why we are investing National Lottery funding into this new venture.

"We hope to see many more opportunities created to increase numbers of disabled people getting active."
