'Move more every day' – that's one of the key messages from a new campaign to improve mental health across the UK.
Public Health England's Every Mind Matters campaign, which launched nationwide on October 7, will raise awareness of mental health issues and provide tips and tools for self-care, as well as signposting where people can get support.
The campaign highlights the vital role physical activity has to play, with people encouraged to get moving to boost their mental health and wellbeing, and help prevent conditions such as depression.
Physical activity has been shown to improve mental health in several ways – for example, it can boost your mood by releasing feelgood hormones, help you sleep better, and make you feel better about yourself.
Visit the Every Mind Matters website to build a personalised plan to look after your mental health, with ideas on how to build more movement into your day, and activities to relax and destress you.
