The Broadland Sports Grant programme is open for 2019 applications to provide funding to help rising sports stars in the area fund training and equipment for competition. The grant system provides grants for successful applicants as well as information on ways to receive further funding going forward.
The funding is available to young athletes in the Broadland District who are currently competing at a regional or higher level and can go towards coaching costs, entry fees equipment or physiotherapy. Grants of up to £125 are available per athlete and entries close on Monday 25th February 2019.
In order to be eligible for the grant, athletes must reside in the Broadland District and be competing at regional level at a minimum. Applicants cannot have received a grant in the past.
Previous recipients of the grant include Steeplechaser, Iona Lake, from Hainford, who has gone on to compete for team GB in the Commonwealth Games in her discipline. She said of the scheme: "The Broadland District Council grant could not have come at a better time for me and my running career. After being awarded the grant, I was off to Australia to compete at the Commonwealth Games that same month. I am still unfunded so this grant meant I could afford many things we as athletes need without having to worry so much about my finances."
All applications must be made on official forms and submitted by post or email. A supporting statement is required from a coach and this can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Click here to find out more.
