Sports and leisure groups, community clubs and schools in the Great Yarmouth borough are invited to apply to receive funding from the Great Yarmouth Sports and Leisure Trust to help them offer more exercise opportunities to more people in the area.
The funding offers grants of up to £500 to a wide range of community groups and can be used in a number of different ways, provided it is to directly improve the way activity opportunities are offered or delivered.
Three groups in the area have already been the welcome recipients of significant funding, with Caister Football Club awarded £500 to improve the quality of its playing surface. A youth football club, Shrublands FC, also received money to buy new goals, bibs, footballs and trophies for the club to help attract more members and improve facilities for current players. In addition, the community group, Revolutionary Roots, also won money to help purchase sporting equipment which will help support the group's key aims of reducing substance abuse, anti-social behaviour and criminal activity in the area through offering constructive alternatives.
The Great Yarmouth Sports and Leisure Trust is especially looking for schools in the Great Yarmouth area to apply to receive this funding.
Graham Plant, Chairman of the Great Yarmouth Sports and Leisure Trust, said: "As a registered charity, our purpose is to benefit the public in the borough of Great Yarmouth. Maybe you're a club or an individual that needs new equipment. Perhaps you're a coach or a teacher wanting to start a group and you need kit, or marketing costs supported. We're also very keen to help groups who are historically not participating in sport to get involved. Please see our online criteria form to check eligibility."
