Norfolk Boccia Open a roaring success as ten teams enjoy a day of friendly competition

The 2018 Norfolk Boccia Open was contested between 10 teams from across the county and eventually won by Norwich Stollers after a close final match with Headway King's Lynn.

Boccia is a team Paralympic sport, whereby seated players throw specially designed balls into rings on the floor in front of them to score points. This year's open saw teams from Norwich Pioneers, Norwich Strollers, NNAB, Bawburgh Independent Lives, Leonard Cheshire the Grove and Headway Norwich.

The competition got underway with teams vying for top spot in their group. After the group stages had completed, the semi-finals were contested by Strollers, Pioneers 1, NNAB and Headway King's Lynn, before Strollers took the top sport after narrowly defeating Headway from King's Lynn.

The day was a great event for all involved and special mention must go to the excellent referees and scorers who were volunteers from Irwin Mitchell solicitors of Cambridge.
