Shoppers at Castle Mall will soon be able to enjoy playing some free table tennis as the centre opens a pop up Ping Pong Parlour on Wednesday 25th October!
The parlour can be found on level 2 next to Ryman and will be open during normal shopping hours. Everyone is welcome to drop in to play on one of the 3 table tennis tables in the parlour which promises to be an exciting attraction for the community. To join in the fun, simply grab a bat from the side of the table and play – absolutely free of charge!
You can also join Mark Dare, Table Tennis England coach of the year, for a tips and advice session on Thursday 26th October between 11am and 2pm. Mark can give tips on improving your game, from beginners to pros, plus advice on joining one of 2 local clubs; Norwich City Table Tennis Club and Wensum Table Tennis Club.
Castle Mall is delighted to have teamed up with the Ping! and Loop team at Table Tennis England, the sport's National Governing Body, to bring this exciting project to life.
Ping Pong Parlours have already opened in several other shopping centres nationwide and form part of Table Tennis England's vision to inspire people to get active and lead happier, healthier lifestyles by introducing table tennis into the places they already spend time in their everyday lives.
Robert Bradley, Centre Manager says, 'We are excited to be hosting a Ping Pong Parlour at Castle Mall. The beauty of the parlour is that it's just for fun, you don't have to be a pro table tennis player to take part. We think it's a great attraction for families and students and look forward to seeing you there.'
The other initiatives delivered by Table Tennis England helping to achieve this, include Ping!, the public street ping pong festival which bounces into 24 towns and cities every summer, and Loop which creates opportunities for workplaces, community venues and sports clubs to introduce table tennis.
