Leicester City Council Sports Services Team (Active Leicester) are the leading provider of sport, leisure and fitness facilities within the city. We currently operate seven leisure centres; an athletics track and a golf course along with a range of parks and open spaces which host a wide variety of formal and informal sports and physical activities.

After three years of delivering year on year improvements we now have in place ambitious plans to 'step up the service' to take us to the next level and transform the council's approach to sport, leisure and physical activity.

To join our team of passionate and highly motivated individuals we are looking for a Sport and Physical Activity Programme Officer to be responsible for maximising participation, income and retention for our British Gymnastics affiliated recreational gymnastics and trampolining programmes and a wide variety of recreational drop in sports sessions. Working closely with the Sport and Physical Activity Development Manager and General Managers you will design, implement and evaluate high quality and innovative operating models of practice across the portfolio of leisure facilities and ensure that the best use of space is available.

Based at Braunstone Leisure Centre, you will be required to travel to locations across the City and further afield for meetings and events. You will also be required to occasionally work outside of normal office hours to plan and deliver sessions where cover is required to ensure continuity of service.

Your role

As a Sport and Physical Activity Programme Officer, you will be responsible for the delivery and development of recreational gymnastics and trampolining programmes and will focus on the quality, consistency and growth of all courses and activities as well as develop an effective recruitment, induction and retention programme for coaches to ensure our customers receive an excellent level of service. Working collaboratively with the business development team, you will design and deliver effective marketing campaigns and events that increase usage, customer satisfaction and retention. To improve services, you will also be responsible for analysing data and monitoring and evaluating programs to identify trends and provide reports and recommendations. You will also work in partnership with external stakeholders including British Gymnastics to ensure that the programmes are effective in take into consideration current trends.

What you will need

With an in-depth knowledge of both gymnastics and trampolining you will also understand the key recreational products that British Gymnastics offer to increase participation in these sports. You will have an excellent track record of delivering highly successful gymnastics, trampolining and other sport and physical activity programmes as well as experience of developing effective marketing campaigns. With strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will be able to effectively liaise with both internal/external stakeholders and a wide range of partners across the sport, physical activity and leisure sector to increase participation. You will have first class IT skills and will be able to analyse and interpret data and statistical reports and use it to make improvements to the service.

Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to hold at least one or all the following British Gymnastics Coaching qualifications (General Gymnastics Level 2, Women's Artistic Level 2, Gymnastics Activity Instructor Level 2, Pre School Gymnastics) or be willing to work towards these with our support.
