Healthy Norwich - event recap

The Healthy Norwich Workshop took place at The Kings Centre on Friday 8th February 2019, with the aim to initiate a new approach to Healthy Norwich following an initial successful 6 years of delivery. The event included some new and innovative approaches to bring partners together and discuss a potential future focus and model for delivery and cohere everyone around a common agenda.

Shelley Ames

Inactivity & Health Development Manager

I joined Active Norfolk in October 2006 after completing a degree in Sport & Leisure Management at Sheffield Hallam University. I have had a number of roles and worked on a variety of projects within the Active Norfolk team, including Extended Schools, Get Into and Fit4Work. I started working on the physical activity and health agenda in February 2013, and as of January 2015 moved into my role as Physical Activity & Health Development Manager.

In my current role I am responsible for developing and maintaining the relationships with health and academic partners; strategically leading on the physical activity agenda; identifying funding streams; and ensuring that provision is targeted to reduce health inequalities.

I also lead on the Localities work within Great Yarmouth, engaging with district officers and other key stakeholders within the Borough to support a reduction in physical activity levels and health and well-being improvement using a place-based approach.
