‘The Pudsey Paddle Trophy’ is now a well-established fundraising event for BBC Children in Need held at Whitlingham Adventure in Trowse. Noted for its fun and the spectacular efforts of its fancy dressed participants the annual race is a yearly highlight for many.

Pudsey Paddle for Children In Need

Teams of between 4 to 6 people paddle their dual hulled canoes (called a Katakanu) to the finish in a fun time trial race event. Each team have a minimum of two races over the session and the team with the fastest time overall is awarded the title of Pudsey Paddle Champions 2019.

There is also an award for the best dressed team!

Event details: Date: Friday 15th November 2019 from 13:00 to 15:00

  • Teams of between four to six people, paddling Katakanu's (maximum weight 500kg).
  • Cost minimum of £30.00 per team – all proceeds will be donated to 'BBC Children in Need'.
  • Teams have a minimum of two opportunities to race over a session.
  • Teams are encouraged to come in fancy dress - remember there is an award for the best efforts!
  • Team info sheets must be received in advance of the day and to include Team Name / Team Captain / Individuals names and medical info/emergency contacts

Approximate Timings:

13:00 - 13:15 Arrive at Centre. Sign in, pay and find a table for your team.
13:15 - 13:30 Briefing for teams & kitting up
13:30 – 14:45 Two race heats with short break in between
14:45 – 15:00 Results and awards
15:00 – 15:15 Teams leave

To book your team in to participate in this event please complete and return the 'Trophy XIII' Team Information Sheet (available on request), you can return this by emailing whitlingham@educatorsolutions.org.uk.

Participants should bring:

  • Warm clothes, appropriate for the weather A change of clothes
  • Old trainers that you don't mind getting wet/dirty
  • A towel
  • Water and hot drinks will be available but please bring any other refreshments you require.
  • Lots of enthusiasm and energy to have a good time
  • Fancy dress (there is a prize for the best)
