About Norfolk Orienteering Club
Orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure sport that exercises both the mind and the body. The aim is to navigate in sequence between control points marked on a unique orienteering map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. It does not matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can run, walk or jog the course and progress at your own pace. It is a sport that pitches you against the map, terrain, time and if you are truly competitive, the other participants. Orienteering can take place anywhere from remote forest and countryside to urban parks. It's a great sport for runners, joggers and walkers who want to improve their navigation skills or for anyone who loves the outdoors. Participants are free to take part individually, or in pairs or groups. Most events have a range of courses usually from 1.5k to about 8 or 9k, and are suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a great sport for families. Help is always available to introduce you to the sport and get you started. To see when the next orienteering events are:
