About Golden Rooster School of Tai Chi & Qigong
The Golden Rooster School, a healthcare education service, actively promotes a healthy lifestyle, and community participation, through outreach sessions for people of all ages and abilities, teaching Tai Chi and Qigong to support improved mental and physical well-being. Accustomed to meeting health and socialisation goals within community projects, we are willing to collaborate on projects with RDF and ESF goals with potential partner organisations.
Tai Chi and Qigong practice strengthens your body, relaxes the mind and lifts the spirit. The smooth flowing movements, and deep natural breathing, relax and develop the whole being, improving both physical and mental well being. They are excellent practices for the cultivation of focus and self discipline at any age.
Recent studies have amply demonstrated that Tai Chi performs as well as, or exceeds the efficacy of conventional treatment for many conditions, and it is increasingly featured in preventative or rehabilitative programmes, throughout the developed world. Often considered a form of gentle exercise, tai chi is not just a physical activity, according to Peter Wayne, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and the research director at Harvard's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine.
"[Tai chi] is a mind-body exercise that integrates slow, gentle movements, breathing and a variety of cognitive components, including focused attention, imagery and multi-tasking," you can learn more about recent studies and tai chi here.
