Upcoming Coach Education courses

Safeguarding & Protecting Children Great Yarmouth

Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2017 (18:30 - 21:30)

Location: Great Yarmouth Library Rooms, Tolhouse Street, Great Yarmouth, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2SH

This course is targeted at any adult volunteering in your club who has regular contact with children and young people. The course focuses on good practice to protect the child and the coach in a sporting environment. This is a prerequisite for any NGB coaching qualification and upon completion you will receive a nationally recognised certificate.

BOX Instructor (England Boxing)

BOX is a new fitness experience devised by England Boxing coaches who have worked with the best boxers in the country.

Participants gain all-over body conditioning while learning the techniques used by Olympic boxers to succeed in the ring.

Classes incorporate many different elements of boxing training, such as partner pad-work, skipping, punch bags and shadow boxing, ensuring participants get a great overall cardiovascular workout; developing core strength, co-ordination and fitness.

This qualification is designed to provide benefit to you through the skills and knowledge required to enable you to understand participants and their needs, develop your knowledge of multi-skills development in sport and prepares you to demonstrate practical coaching skills in the context of the fundamentals of movement, fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills.

Health Series: MS And Exercise

The seminar aims to develop, or update, learner's knowledge and understanding of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which is an autoimmune disease which affects the brain and spinal cord.The seminar covers aetiology and prevalence in the UK, evidence highlighting the importance of physical activity and exercise in the management of the condition, alongside detailing an exercise prescription framework to ensure instructors and coaches work safely alongside their participants and adapt sessions according to their needs.

Basic 3 Hour First Aid Dereham

Date: Thu, 16 Nov 2017 (18:15 - 21:30)

Location: Aldiss Park, Norwich, Norwich, Norwich, NR20 3PX

Both coaching assistants and club volunteers would find this workshop useful. No prior first aid experience is required. This course covers the very basics of first aid and it will also provide you with knowledge of how to assess an incident, and what to do next. There are demonstrations of resuscitation and other techniques to deal with injuries such as sprains and strains.

This workshop aims to develop, or update, learner's knowledge and understanding of the common types of cardiovascular disease, enabling them to work effectively alongside individuals who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or high cholesterol. The seminar covers aetiology and prevalence of heart disease in the UK, evidence highlighting the importance of physical activity & exercise in the prevention and management of these conditions, alongside detailing an exercise prescription framework to ensure instructors and coach's work safely alongside their participants.
