What is Fit4Work?

Fit4Work is:

• a FREE project that is open to all organisation in Norfolk.
• aimed at getting employees in Norfolk active - before work, during work and after work. With the average person spending 60% of their waking time at work and one in five people in Norfolk being obese, we need to encourage sport and activity into the working day.

We are looking to work with a variety of organisations, no matter how big or small to achieve 3 main aims:

1. To increase awareness amongst employers of the importance and benefits of having an active and healthy workforce;
2. To promote the benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle to employees;
3. To provide opportunities for workplaces to participate in sport and physical activity.

In order to achieve this we are looking to identify Sport Makers in as many organisations across the County as possible. We will offer these Sportmakers a whole host of sport and physical opportunities, as well as support to develop a tailored workplace health plan and opportunities for training.

Who can sign up?

Any organisation can sign up to the project- whether large or small, private, public or voluntary sector.

Why should we sign up?

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has estimated that in 2008, 172 million working days were lost due to absence, costing the UK businesses a total of £13 billion. People who are physically active take 27% fewer days off sick! Physical activity programmes within your workplace can help address this issue. Research has concluded that wellness programmes can impact directly on:

• Sickness and absence
• Staff turnover
• Employee satisfaction
• Company profile
• General health and welfare of employees
• Raised moral and motivation
• Increased competitiveness and profitability

Ultimately we can maximise benefits to an employers bottom line, by increasing productivity and creating financial savings!
