The Norfolk Hockey Umpire Association regularly run a number of umpiring courses:

 

L1

Anyone from the age of 16 can apply to do the L1 umpire course.  Courses are regularly run throughout the year and details are available on the Norfolk Hockey Association website

Foundation Umpire Award

This is a fun, day long course for anyone aged 13 or above including adult volunteers and young leaders who would like to be more involved with helping with junior hockey.  It can also be used toward the Duke of Edinburgh Award.  It is an introduction to umpiring full 11 a-side hockey and it includes a morning going through the rules followed by a theory test and a practical session in the afternoon.  There is usually 1 Foundation course run each season.

Young Umpire Award

This is an introduction to umpiring 7 a-side minis hockey and is aimed at young people between 10 and 13 years.  It is a fun, day long course and includes going through the rules of mini hockey, a theory test and a practical session.  Young umpires should then be equiped to put their umpiring skills to use at club sessions and festival.  There is usually 1 Young Umpire course run each season.
