
Easton Rugby Academy now recruiting for September
03 April 2012Easton College Ruigby Academy have places available for September. This is a chance to achieve an accredited award, compete in a competitive division and receive high quality coaching.
Easton College Rugby Academy started their second year with a strong squad helped by the nineteen new academy students. At the start of the year all academy players attend a pre season which consists of fitness testing and team building. Students complete an Extended BTEC in sport and receive five hours of coaching from Nick Greenhall the only level 4 course coach in Norfolk. Strength and conditioning and dartfish game analysis.
The team competes in a very competitive Division one East league and finished fourth this season. They reached the County cup final and just lost 21-20 to Langley with performance to be very proud of. Won the Langley 7’s plate and took part for the first time in the Dailey Mail Cup.
Easton College Rugby Academy has been awarded the RFU college accreditation award. This is a great achievement and shows the RFU support the academy and the provision provided by the college.
The academy students have volunteered on a number of occasions helping officiate and run Norfolk schools games, Norfolk Girls development day and emerging schools competition. Playing a strong part in promoting youth rugby in Norfolk.
Every year the academy runs a selection of trips. They embarked on a joint trip with Wayland high school to Leicester Tigers where they had a specialist coaching session, meet Manu Tuilagi and watch a premiership game. At the end of every year we take a group to Twickenham to the world 7s world tournament.
After the two year course players progress onto University a career in rugby or to work in the sports industry. They gain their level 1 and 2 CYQ gym qualification and coaching qualifications.
Ollie Ware Academy Captain said, “This course has provided me with opportunity to gain a BTEC qualification and develop as an individual and a rugby player.”
