Health Series: Dementia & Exercise

The awareness of dementia is increasing and so is the important of remaining physically active. Research strongly supports regular physical activity and exercise for individuals diagnosed with dementia from gentle activities to those able to develop cardiovascular and functional health. This seminar looks at the aetiology and prevalence of the condition, the stages it progresses through and the exercise considerations for each stage.

Safeguarding & Protecting Children Thorpe St Andrew

This course is targeted at any adult volunteering in your club who has regular contact with children and young people. The course focuses on good practice to protect the child and the coach in a sporting environment. This is a prerequisite for any NGB coaching qualification and upon completion you will receive a nationally recognised certificate.

This is a course primarily for Club Welfare Officers (CWO). This course goes into more detail regarding policies and procedures than the SPC course. Candidates must have completed SPC prior to attending TTL.

Teaching Nervous Beginners - Swimming Teachers Association

Pool Safety Award for Teachers & Youth leaders (level 2)

Holders of the Lifesaving – Safety Award for Teachers are capable in pool rescue, first aid, adult, child and infant CPR techniques and competent to deal with poolside emergencies in accordance with The HSE Publication Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools and British Standard BS EN 15288 Part 2, Safety Requirements for Operations.

This seminar aims to develop, or update, learner's knowledge and understanding Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is a long term respiratory disease that can range in severity. The seminar covers aetiology and prevalence in the UK, evidence highlighting the importance of physical activity and exercise in the management of the condition, alongside detailing an exercise prescription framework to ensure instructors and coach's work safely alongside their participants and adapt sessions according to their needs. By the end of the seminar you should feel confident and competent to plan, design and lead exercise sessions for individuals with COPD.
